"Run Michelle! run! we are going to be late for school".
"Rosey mi caan go any faster than mi a go", besides if we a go get beaten it nu mek sense we tired out we self".
Later for school especially on a Monday morning is a no, no with Spooky Green. He would be standing at the school with the big hairy leather strap over his shoulder and his hands clasped behind his back. We have been late before for school because we have to carry water for the goats and full up the clay pot out the kitchen door for momma.
"Lawd! man, mi tired", exclaimed Michelle who is always whining and carrying on.
Michelle is slightly over weight and is always complaining about being tired even when we are playing "chinese skip (a game we play with a rope made from thousands of rubber bands laced together to make a ring).
As we near the school gate, I say the outling of Spooky Green standing in the middle of the gateway, his legs slightly spread apart as if he is ready to buck any one approaching. I could feel Michelle''s tension as we got closer.
"Girls!, late again!. He shouted as we froze to the spot where we stood.
I could hear my heart beating as if outside of my chest and Michelle''s constant gulping down of her fear.
"Come closer!, he exclaimed. I could not move as I watched him reached for the big hairy strap across his shoulders, at that moment I realized I was as equally scared as my sister Michelle.
Spooky Green took one step forward and I closed my eyes....
