The Haunting

The book I read this summer is called ‘The haunting’ and is written by Margaret Mahy. It’s a fiction book but it’s quite spooky too.
The main characters are a little boy named Barney and his family. Its members are Barney’s two sisters Troy and Tabitha and his stepmother Claire who is waiting a baby from their father John.
In the beginning Barney is haunted by a ghost who’s actually his great-uncle Cole. He’s a magician and wants to take Barney with him because he thinks that he’s a magician too. The boy himself doesn’t agree and is much scared by his mysterious relative. He wishes he could stay at home. His sister Tabitha tries to help Barney but she can’t. When Cole comes for Barney the boy is helpless. Then Troy, the biggest Barney’s sister, confesses that in fact she’s the magician Cole is looking for, but not her brother. The end of the story is as exciting as the whole book is but to know you will have to read it.
‘The haunting’ is one of the most interesting and absorbing books I’ve read and I like it because it’s so detailed that you can imagine the exact way things happen. I think it’s an appropriate book for everyone who likes scary but fantastic stories.
